Hotel Accommodations

Hello! For all of you darlings who could not book at the Ragland Mansion, we've made a deal with the good folks at the Hampton Inn (a division of Hilton). If you've made arrangements already - no worries. The Hampton Inn is about 10 minutes from the Bluebird Theater - wedding location. We have reserved a block of rooms at a discounted rate. Simply call the Hampton Inn (at South Park Mall) and say you're a member of the "Jones/Cooper Wedding" with the discounted rate of $99 a night plus tax for Friday Oct 11th, 12th and 13th. We made an arrangement for the entire weekend. I know many of  you are coming Saturday only, but some may hang out at the Friday Arts celebration in Petersburg on the eve of wedding. We are planning on something special for those at this hotel, the Ragland and another B&B in the area. Note: the hotels are booking up quickly due to all of the college homecomings.

Hampton Inn Phone number: 804-520-7333

Btw: The manager we are working with is Sara Curtis. Thanks!

Attire or other information

Black tie wedding.

In layman terms: black suit or tux for gents and formal dress for ladies:)

The theme? We're channeling the movie theaters from decades past when folks got glammed up to watch a flick.

Washington, DC Visitors -Things To Do

I will post directions, links and things to do in DC (such as cool restaurants and great venues) as we get closer to October, but below are some great museums to visit.

MY BEST ADVICE IS TO TAKE THE METRO FOR TRANSPORTATION AND USE THE METRO TRIP PLANNER FOR DIRECTIONS: http://www.wmata.com/

1. Smithsonian Museum of Natural History
http://www.mnh.si.edu/

address: Located at 10th St. & Constitution Ave. NW, in Washington, D.C. 20560

metro directions:

Free admission. No tickets are required for entrance. For more call 202-633-1000.

Open every day except Dec. 25 from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

2. Museum of American History (lots of native american exhibits, etc)

http://americanhistory.si.edu/

The Museum is located on the National Mall, at 14th Street and Constitution Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C.

3. Martin Luther King Memorial
http://www.nps.gov/mlkm/index.htm

The memorial is located at the intersection of Independence Ave and West Basin Drive SW in Washington, D.C. Parking is extremely limited near the memorial. The nearest metro stop is "Smithsonian."
The public may visit the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial 24 hours a day. Rangers are on duty to answer questions from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. daily and to provide interpretive programs every hour on the hour from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.

4. National Air and Space Museum (has a cool Star Trek exhibit right now by the gift shop)

Plan your visit to the National Air and Space Museum's two locations -- theNational Mall building in downtown Washington, DC and the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center near Washington Dulles International Airport.
